Nicki Minaj Reveals Why She Featured Davido For “If It’s Okay”

The American rapper Nicki Minaj has explained why she worked with Afrobeats artist Davido on her most recent hit, “If It’s Okay.”

One person questioned what motivated the rapper to work with Davido in an X post on Friday.

“What drew you to Davido for the song ‘If It’s Okay’? In my opinion, he was an ideal choice for this incredible masterpiece! He was speaking that ish,” the user wrote.

Reacting to the tweet in another post, Nicki Minaj said she featured Davido because she wanted to infuse “Afrobeats feeling” into the song.

She said working with Davido is an enjoyable experience because of the “mutual respect” while lauding him for being an “incredible writer and melody maker”.

“That man is an incredible writer & melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him b/c of our mutual respect for one another,” she wrote.

“I asked him to be a part of it in order to bring out the Afro beats tempo/feeling in it a bit more. Nigeria to the world.”

‘If It’s Okay’ is a track off Minaj’s album ‘The Pinkprint’.

‘The Pinkprint’ was originally released in 2014.

However, to mark the album’s 10th anniversary, the rapper made a special edition including four new tracks.
