Nigeria in Crisis: Atiku Abubakar Condemns Government’s Failure to Protect Citizens

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has slammed the Nigerian government for its failure to protect citizens, saying the country has descended into a “killing field” following brutal attacks in Kwara, Katsina, and Benue states. At least 200 people were killed in the coordinated attacks, sparking widespread outrage and calls for decisive action.

Atiku criticized the government’s “routine and hollow” condemnations, urging them to be more proactive and preventive in addressing security challenges. He emphasized that the murder of even one Nigerian is an unforgivable failure of governance.

The attacks have drawn international attention, with the US, UN, and Türkiye condemning the violence. President Bola Tinubu has deployed security forces to the affected areas and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
