Nigerian Army Warns Against Fake Recruitment Advert

The Nigerian Army is concerned due to con artists recruiting for the Navy, Air Force, and Army, claiming to be actually working for them.

Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, director of Army Public Relations, claimed that shady people falsely recruited soldiers under the guise of Maj.-Gen. Gwabin Musa.

Nwachukwu claimed that it was posted on Facebook and other social media sites, where the aforementioned person offered to help 20 people who were interested in any of the services.

He stated that the impersonator has no connection to the Nigerian army or any of the services provided by the country’s Armed Forces.

According to the Army Spokesperson, recruitment is not done by proxy, through unofficial channels, or through specific people. Recruitment is done in accordance with the Army’s policy and guidelines, which are outlined in the Harmonized Terms and Conditions Service Soldiers, Rating, and Airmen Revised 2017 Edition.

The statement read; “The Nigerian Army implores members of the public to be vigilant and cautious when encountering such recruitment offers online. The Nigerian Army has designated channels and platforms through which all official recruitment information is disseminated.

“It must be emphasised, that the army does not request any form of payment or pecuniary commitment during its recruitment exercises.

“Any individual or group claiming to represent the NA and demanding payment should be reported immediately. We are actively working with law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible for this fraudulent activity.

“We encourage members of the public to assist in the endeavour, by reporting suspicious recruitment offers and individuals to the appropriate authorities.

“The safety and security of members of the public remain our top priority.”
