Nigerian Artists Benefit From Support Of Internet Fraudsters – M.I

Rapper Jude Abaga, better known by his stage name as M.I has made a startling admission regarding the financing of music.

He disclosed that the Nigerian music industry is heavily financed by online scammers.

Speaking further, he said that the fact that the majority of the money used to support Nigeria’s music business comes from scammers and from the West saying that it is a disgrace to the country.

He emphasized that Nigeria must improve its financial support for the creative sector.

M.I. was a guest in a recent episode of the “So Nigerian” podcast.

“There’s a lot of controversies when people talk about Yahoo Yahoo, because a lot of artists that is the funding that they have. What I’m trying to say is that, it’s an indictment on our country that we have such talented musicians and that the major funding for the industry comes from the West and the fraud industry. It’s an indictment. It shows that something is wrong. Hopefully, we can do better,” he said.

Since young people are now the only ones providing financial support to other young people in the Nigerian music industry, the rapper urged affluent Nigerians to take the initiative and invest in the nation’s musical talent.
