Nigerian Defender, Destiny Udogie Signs For English Side, Tottenham

Destiny Udogie, a Nigerian defender born in Italy has now signed for Premier League club, Tottenham for £15 million, but was promptly loaned back to his previous team, Udinese.

The left-back, who is 19 years old, agreed to a five-year deal that would keep him with Spurs until 2027, but he will first spend the 2022–2023 season on loan with Udinese.

After arriving in England over the weekend, the young player completed his signing for the English team.

Tottenham announced Udogie’s signing on its official Twitter page, saying, “We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Destiny Udogie from Udinese. The defender has agreed a deal that will run until 2027 and will return to the Serie A side on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.”

Udogie described joining the London club with a rich history as “a big dream come true” and “a big honour.”

In 35 league games for Udinese last season, Udogie scored five goals and gave four assists. He also played in two Italian Cup games for the Friulani.

Given that he was born in Italy and has Nigerian ancestry, Udogie is qualified to represent either Nigeria or Italy internationally.
