Nigerian Military Arrests Personnel Aiding Terrorism

The Defence Headquarters has verified the apprehension of four Personnel suspected of providing logistical support to terrorists in the North-East, including two hybrid force members who were collaborating with troops in counterinsurgency efforts.

The captures occurred during a joint military operation carried out from April 26 to 29 in the local government areas of Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali in Borno and Adamawa states.

Major General Markus Kangye, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed that the two hybrid force personnel were discovered to be facilitating terrorist logistics, representing a significant violation of trust within the military.

Kangye voiced serious concern over what he termed a betrayal and urged military commanders to enhance the awareness of personnel, especially hybrid force members, against actions that could jeopardize ongoing operations against insurgents.

He stated that, “In a well-coordinated operation conducted from 26–29 April 2025 in Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali LGAs of Borno and Adamawa States, troops intercepted four terrorists’ logistics suppliers. Sadly, two of them were confirmed to be members of the hybrid forces.”

In addition to the arrests, Kangye reported that troops, working alongside hybrid forces, executed multiple offensive operations, including raids, clearance missions, and fighting patrols in Gwoza, Dikwa, Bama, Chibok, Gujba, Geidam, and Yunusari local government areas. Numerous terrorists were neutralized, six kidnapped victims were freed, and weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and bicycles were seized.

In the South-South region, the military also achieved notable success in its fight against oil theft and illegal refining. Kangye reported that troops recovered over 86,000 litres of stolen crude oil, 72,000 litres of illegally refined diesel, and more than 2,600 litres of petrol. Additionally, troops dismantled several illegal refining sites and confiscated boats, tricycles, vehicles, storage tanks, and mobile phones used in the illicit activities.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
