Nigeria’s Super Eagles To Face Algeria’s Les Verts In September

Les Verts of Algeria will play Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a friendly on September 27 at the New Stadium in Oran, Algeria, according to the Algeria Football Association (AFF).

Nigeria fell against Ghana, while Algeria lost to Cameroon, thus both teams were unable to advance to the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

The Black Stars of Ghana had been set to play Algeria, a two-time AFCON champion, on September 27, but the West African team cancelled.

Now Nigeria has been scheduled to play Algeria on the same date in a friendly match.

Also, before facing the Super Eagles, Algeria says it will play the Syli Stars of Guinea on September 24.

The game will be a good test for Jose Peseiro, the new Super Eagles manager, as Algeria has defeated the Super Eagles in their last two meetings.

Algeria won 1-0 in a friendly against Nigeria at the Jacques Lemans Arena in Austria in October 2020 after defeating the Super Eagles 2-1 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final on the strength of an incredible 95th-minute free-kick that advanced Algeria to the AFCON Final in Egypt.
