Nine Wounded In Hollywood, Florida Boardwalk Shooting

Over the US Memorial Day holiday, nine people were injured in a shooting on a busy Florida beach. The shooting on Monday night took place on the Hollywood Oceanfront Boardwalk, a well-liked spot for beachgoers 20 miles (32 km) north of Miami.

According to police, there was a fight between two groups that resulted in gunfire. According to the authorities, the injured include four youngsters and range in age from one to 65.

Police spokesperson; Deanna Bettineschi said one person has been taken into custody while they are still looking for a second suspect.

On Tuesday, police announced that they had received surveillance footage from the scene that showed the two suspects in the shooting. To identify the culprits, videos, and pictures were made public.

Bettineschi reported that at about 18:42 local time (23:42 BST), police initially received reports of gunshots.

“We know there was a dispute between two groups, and that’s when the gunfire started,” she said.

The five adult casualties range in age from 25 to 65, while the four injured children range in age from one to seventeen.

Six patients—four children and two adults—remain in the hospital in stable condition, Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital informed US media. They said that three adults were treated and released.

Numerous police officers reacted to the gunshot, and thousands of people were in the neighborhood at the time of the event, according to Hollywood Police Chief Chris O’Brien.

Hollywood Mayor; Josh Levy released a statement in which he expressed his “deep sadness” over the shooting.

“It is completely unacceptable that innocent people spending time with family on a holiday weekend have been affected by a shooting altercation between two groups who came into our city with guns and with no regard for the safety of the law-abiding public around them,” Levy said

According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 263 mass shootings in the US this year, which are defined as shootings in which four or more persons are hurt or killed.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, there was gun violence in Chicago as well. Between late Friday and early Tuesday, the city saw at least nine fatalities and more than 40 injuries. Among those hurt are two young youngsters.

After discovering a handgun in a nearby park on Sunday evening, a two-year-old accidentally shot herself in the hand, according to Chicago police.

A second incident involved a two-year-old youngster who was playing in his bedroom when a gunshot was heard. His hand was shot as well. Officials reported that both kids are doing well.
