Nurses Call Off Warning Strike

The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has halted its planned nationwide warning strike.

Chidi Aligwe, NANNM’s Assistant Secretary-General, announced on Saturday that the seven-day warning strike, originally set to conclude the following Tuesday, has been terminated.

He stated that the resolution was reached during a virtual session of NANNM’s National Executive Council.

“The strike has been suspended. Nurses and midwives are to resume duty immediately,” he confirmed.

This announcement follows the union’s rejection of a prior claim by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammad Pate, asserting that the industrial action had been called off.

The strike, which commenced on July 30, was initiated due to concerns including inadequate pay, staffing shortages, unpaid allowances, and hazardous working environments.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
