Olympic Gender-Row Boxer Knocks Out Female Opponent In Just 94 SECONDS

Olympic boxer Lin Yu-ting secured a win during her comeback to the boxing ring by defeating her rival through a knockout in merely 94 seconds.

Lin, who is 29 years old, earned a gold medal in the featherweight category at the Paris 2024 Olympics even though she had been barred from the 2023 World Championships because she did not pass a test related to gender eligibility.

The boxer from Taiwan has become a focal point of debate because of issues surrounding her gender identity.

This athlete is not transgender and her passport lists her as identifying as female.

A couple of years back, officials from the IBA discovered through examinations that Lin possessed XY chromosomes — which suggests that an individual is biologically male.

Uncommon intersex health issues, which are clinically referred to as differences in sexual development (DSDs), may result in people who appear female on the outside having male chromosomes, or the opposite situation.

In August, World Boxing implemented required genetic sex testing for every boxer who is older than 18 years to more accurately assess who can participate in its events.

That choice led to Lin – along with another boxer involved in gender controversies, Imane Khelif, who similarly took home gold at the Paris Olympics in the welterweight category – staying away from boxing matches for a prolonged duration.

However, the local regulations at Taiwan’s National Games permitted Lin to take part in the women’s 60kg weight class.

The boxer from Taiwan overcame her rival Pan Yan-fei during the initial round of their fight with remarkable simplicity.

Based on reports from the area, Pan, who is 19, endured multiple strikes to the head and seemed to be struggling with breathing.

The coach of the university student decided to throw in the towel, which compelled the referee to stop the contest.

Following her loss, Pan’s health status was reported as stable, although no additional information about her medical situation was made public.

Following the bout, Lin’s coach Tseng Tzu-chiang referred to the victory as “routine” and refused to comment on matters related to regulations.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
