Police Arrest 24-Year-Old Man For Threatening To K!ll His Father In Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has detained a 24-year-old individual for reportedly threatening to murder his father.

Command spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, noting that officers quickly acted on a distress call from a man (name withheld) from Ikot Imoh village, who reported that his son, Ubong Friday Benson, had locked himself in and was menacing him with a dagger.

“The complainant further stated that the suspect had previously threatened to shoot him with a locally made pistol, which he habitually concealed in a nearby bush,” the statement read.

“Upon receiving the report, a team was immediately mobilized to the scene, leading to the successful arrest of the suspect, Ubong Friday Benson.

“During the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to possessing the firearm and subsequently led the police team to a bush where the alleged locally made pistol was recovered.”

A further search of the suspect’s belongings resulted in the discovery of several dangerous weapons, including one dagger, an iron filer, a long iron chisel, an iron hammer, and a penknife.

“Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect had allegedly inflicted injuries on some community members prior to his arrest.

However, at the time of this release, only the suspect’s father has come forward to provide a statement.”

“Investigations are currently ongoing, and the Akwa Ibom State Police Command is committed to ensuring the swift prosecution of the suspect.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
