Police Arrest 5 Receivers Of Stolen Properties In Niger State

The Niger State Police Command detained five alleged prominent receivers of stolen property in Minna and its surroundings.

The arrest follows the confessional statements of a suspected robbery group detained lately, according to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who stated this in a statement on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in Minna.

The robbery group recently worked on Mandela Road, Tunga, Farm Centre, Morris, David Mark Road, Police Mobile quarters, and the Brighter school area, stealing mobile phones and computers from their victims.

The PPRO identified the five recipients as Ahmed Sani a.k.a Balarabe (23 years), a mobile phone repairer, and Abdullahi Abubakar a.k.a Mourinho (37 years), a phone repairer and accessories salesman at the Obasanjo retail complex in Minna, respectively.

Other recipients of stolen items who are actively assisting the police in their investigations include Auwal Saidu, 25, a phone repairer, Abdulkareem Musa, 30, and Safianu Ibrahim, 21, all of whom work as mobile phone repairers in Minna’s Chanchaga neighbourhood.

Murtala Junaidu, 21, of Katsina state but staying in the Makera region, was also arrested for permitting his tricycle with registration number BDA 806 WL to be used by Murtala to transport the gang to selected places for activities, typically between 2 am and 5 am.

During interrogation, Abdullahi Abubakar admitted that he had been assisting the gang in the sale of stolen items and had recently collected seven mobile phones and three laptops from one of the robbers, “Miksail,” and had also contacted Balarabe, who confirmed buying three iPhones for N20,000 each and N25,000 for each of the laptops from the gang members.

Nine laptop computers, sixteen mobile phones, seven various types of wristwatches, earpieces, power banks, and telephone phone chargers were recovered from the accused.

The PPRO stated that an investigation is underway at the SCID Minna to apprehend one suspect, Abdullahi Musa, who is now at large with other things.
