The Ogun State Police Command has detained a 25-year-old individual, Muniru Haruna, for reportedly def!ling a three-year-old girl who lived next door.
The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, verified the occurrence in a statement, explaining that the suspect enticed the young child into his room while she was engaged in play.
Odutola reported that the mother of the victim, Alaba Abdullahi, heard her daughter sobbing and immediately went to check on her.
She observed her little girl walking with difficulty as she exited the suspect’s room.
“On March 1, 2025, at about 11:00 am, the local Police out station at Orile-Ilugun received a distress call from 20-year-old Alaba Abdullahi regarding her three-year-old daughter,” the PPRO declared.
“Alaba disclosed that Muniru Haruna, a 25-year-old man living in the same vicinity, allegedly perpetrated the act while the victim was playing in the area.
“The situation came to light when Alaba heard her daughter weeping and promptly went to Investigate, only to discover her child leaving the suspect’s room in obvious anguish.
“Upon closer inspection, it was evident that the victim struggled to walk and displayed indications of physical harm.”
Odutola mentioned that the young girl was transported to General Hospital Odeda for a medical check-up and essential care, noting that the police are awaiting the physician’s findings.
The PPRO indicated that despite the suspect refuting the claims made against him, the matter was forwarded to the Division Crime Branch for examination and will be sent to the State CID Eleweran after the initial investigation concludes.
She reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding the security and welfare of the public, particularly the children.
