Police Arrest Suspect Over M8rder Of 22-Year-Old Housewife In Kano

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended the primary suspect linked to the gruesome m8rder of a 22-year-old housewife, Rumaisa Haruna.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, announced this in a statement issued on Tuesday, May 27.

Rumaisa was m8rdered in her residence at Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Farawa Quarters on April 6, 2025.

The suspect, Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, was taken into custody on May 23 following an extensive investigation spanning several weeks.

According to the PPRO, the suspect, who confessed to the crime, admitted to entering the victim’s matrimonial home, where he strangled and st@bbed her in the neck.

“The Kano State Police Command is pleased to announce a significant breakthrough in a case of culpable homicide that occurred on 6th April 2025, at Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Kano. Following a diligent investigation supported by intelligence-led technical operations, the principal suspect, Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, ‘m’, 35 years old of Madatai Quarters Kano, was arrested on 23rd May 2025,” the statement read.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime, admitting to trespassing into the victim’s matrimonial home, strangulating, and stabbing her with a knife on the neck, resulting in her death. He will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

“The victim, Rumaisa Haruna, ‘f’, 22 years old, of Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Farawa Quarters Kano, was discovered by her husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, with severe neck injuries. When rushed to Hospital, she was confirmed d3ad.

“The Command commends the detectives for their tireless efforts and professionalism that led to the arrest of the suspect. The suspect, currently in custody, is helping further investigation to ensure full justice is served.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police. The Command assures the public of its commitment to safeguarding all residents and maintaining peace and order in the state.”
