Police Inspector Shoots Himself D3ad In Ogun

A police inspector named Ajele Oloyede has reportedly passed away due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Igbesa, located in Ogun State.

Punch disclosed on Sunday that the tragic event took place at a ceramics company where the police officer was assigned as a member of the security team.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who verified the incident, mentioned that an officer from Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos, Tolorunloju Stephen, came across the scene after returning from Ikeja around 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 13.

According to the PPRO, Stephen allegedly discovered Oloyede with his head resting on a table within the security office.

When inquired about his condition, the inspector reassured Stephen that he was doing well.

Stephen then set his bag and firearm on the table and proceeded to enter the restroom.
Shortly afterward, the sound of a gunshot rang out.

Odutola explained that Stephen found Oloyede collapsed in a pool of his own blood.

“With the assistance of private security staff, the injured officer was swiftly transported to Ota General Hospital, where he was subsequently declared deceased by the attending physician,” she remarked.

“Police personnel attended the location, and the departed officer’s handgun was retrieved. His remains have been placed at Ota General Hospital for a postmortem examination, while efforts are underway to contact his relatives.”

Odutola further noted that the matter would be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for a more thorough inquiry.
