Police Nab Serial Shop Burglar In Osun

Osun State Police Command detectives have apprehended a 24-year-old man who specialises in breaking into shops in the Okefia neighbourhood of Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ishaq Muhammed, the culprit, named as Damilola Oladele, burgled stores in the Agunbelewo area and stole important items.

He claimed that the serial shop burglar was apprehended by men from the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), who informed police officers on patrol around Osogbo.

Two black standing fans, two kegs of 25 litres of groundnut oil, cooking utensils, three power generating sets, one electric cooker, two gas cookers, one ring light, a half bag of rice, one 12kg gas cylinder, one 6kg gas cylinder and one 3kg gas cylinder were among the items recovered from the suspect.

According to the police chief, the suspect was apprehended at Oke-Fia, roundabout Osogbo, with a large bag containing the products but was unable to provide adequate proof of ownership when questioned.

However, the suspect was transported to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for a discrete investigation and interrogation.

During the course of the inquiry, it was discovered that the suspect had burgled roughly ten businesses in the Agunbelewo area of Osogbo on various dates and carried away things worth N3 million.

According to the police chief, the investigation found that the suspect, who lives in the vicinity, committed the crime entirely in the stores and kept the things in his home.

Muhammed, who stated that the suspect confessed to the incident and would be charged in court, cautioned criminal elements in the state to reconsider or face the full force of the law.
