Police Officer Allegedly R@pes 17-Year-Old Girl Inside Station

One of the Lagos State Police Command’s officers has been taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a seventeen-year-old girl at the Area H Command in the state’s Ogudu area.

Punch claimed that the girl had asked the officer for assistance in getting her stolen phone back.

After taking the teen’s statement, the suspect, only known as Owolabi, volunteered to help. However, he later misled her by telling her that the suspected phone thief had been detained by police.

He allegedly raped the minor under the threat of a pistol when she arrived at his office.

In a statement released on Sunday, July 14, 2024, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the event and stated that a comprehensive inquiry has been launched by the command into the officer’s alleged defilement.

The PPRO refuted claims that the suspected rapist was being protected by the police.

“The Lagos State Police Command has placed under arrest one of its personnel accused of defiling a 17-year-old girl,” the statement read.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni has, meanwhile, directed a full-scale and thorough investigation into the allegation. Hundeyin explained that the officer in question had allegedly absconded after the incident but turned himself in on Saturday for questioning.

“The Command assures the public that there is absolutely no attempt at a cover-up as such hideous acts are at variance with the code of conduct and professional ethics of the Nigeria Police Force.

“To this end, CP Fayoade once again assures Nigerians that the officer would be dealt with in accordance with police regulations and the law if found culpable.”
