Police Operatives Arrest One Of The Deadly Kidnappers Who Murdered 13-year-old Nabeeha Michelle

The police have detained a 28-year-old man from Zamfara state in Kaduna named Bello Mohammed. He is suspected of killing 13-year-old Nabeeha Michelle, the daughter of lawyer Oladosu Folorunso Ariyo, who practices in Abuja.

On January 20, 2024, the infamous abductor was apprehended by the Divisional Police Officer of Tafa Division. Based on intelligence, the officer raided a hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, and apprehended Bello. He was found in possession of $2.25 million (two million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira), which was thought to be the proceeds of ransoms collected from kidnapped victims in the area.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to the police that he was a member of the group that killed some of the kidnapped victims, including the lawyer’s daughter Nabeeha, on January 13, 2024, in a kidnapper’s camp in Kaduna state. The gang had abducted the family members of one Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory, on January 2, 2024.

Remember that around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024, a group of kidnappers wearing full military uniforms broke into his house in Dutse, Abuja’s Sagwari Layout Estate.

The bandits threatened to kill his wife and three other children if he did not pay the N60 million ransom. Michelle Ariyo, his firstborn, was later killed and her corpse was thrown on Kaduna Road.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, released a statement on Sunday stating that the suspect made a spectacular offer of N1,000,000 (one million naira alone) to entice the DPO. The DPO declined the offer and dutifully performed his duties.

According to Adejobi, the suspect “who also confessed to the involvement of the already five (5) neutralized bandits in Kaduna by the IRT, headed by one Mai Gemu (aka Godara), whose deadly camp has also been destroyed, be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations into the matter and arrest of all other culprits responsible for the dastardly act. The suspect is currently helping the police in their investigations.”

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) praised SP Idris Ibrahim, the DPO Tafa, for his dedication and professionalism in handling the case. He also gave the assurance that the police would stop at nothing to eliminate criminals and leave Nigerians with a safer society.
