Police Question Adefarasin Over Gun-Like Object In Viral Video

Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the founder of the House on the Rock Church, has handed himself in for interrogation over a widely shared video that seemed to show him brandishing what seemed to be a gun during a roadside encounter, according to confirmation from the Lagos State Police Command.

The Command, in a post shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, stated, “No one is above the law!

“Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case since a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object against another road user, while driving in an unregistered vehicle.

The outcome of the investigation will be made public.”

In the previously leaked footage, Adefarasin is seen holding a metallic object and conversing with a bystander who seems to be filming him.

In response, Pastor Adefarasin took to his official X handle to dismiss the claims.

“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm. I want to assure you of this — that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone,” he wrote.

The cleric acknowledged the public concern stirred by the footage and appealed for calm.

“We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused… Thank you for your patience and understanding,” he added, noting that he would address the matter further during Sunday’s church service.
