Police Raid Criminal Hideout In Imo State, Recovers Cash, ATM Card, Mkpurimiri Smoking Items

The Imo State Police Command raided a criminal hideaway in the bush at Amaukwu Orodo in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area, confiscating one pump-action gun with live ammunition, vehicles, and other materials.

Michael Abattam, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this in an Owerri press statement on Tuesday.

On January 23, 2021, at around 10:30 a.m., the command’s tactical units mobilized and attacked the criminal hideout, according to Abattam, who signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Hussaini.

The CP said, “The hoodlums, on sighting the police operatives, opened fire on them and the gallant and battle-ready police operatives swiftly returned fire. In the process, they were overwhelmed by the superior fire-power of the police and they fled into the bush with gunshot injuries while Uzoma Dike ‘m’ aged 42 years and Chidi Osunwa ‘m’ 36 years, both natives of Amaukwu Orodo in Mbitoli LGA of Imo State, were arrested to the station.

He said the police force is “using the medium to appeal to various communities in the state to stop allowing criminals to use their areas as safe haven to commit felonies. At the same time, those whose motorcycles were stolen are advised to come forward with proof of ownership for identification and collection.”

To assist the work of the police and other security services, communities are encouraged to create vigilante groups or neighborhood watch clubs. Also, any suspicious individuals with bullet wounds should be reported.

The CP commended Imolites for their unwavering support and partnership with the command while commending the officers and soldiers for their dedication and heroism.

One pump-action gun with two live cartridges, ten various types of motorcycles, seven new motorcycles, ten forged motorcycle particulars/receipts, 15 different brands of Android phones, and five different wristwatches were among the things recovered, according to him.

One UBA ATM card, various substances suspected of being illicit drugs, bunches of keys, N223, 600 cash, and items used in smoking Mkpurumiri are among the other items seized.
