Police Rescue Kano APC Senatorial Candidate’s Mother In Jigawa

The kidnapped aged mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kano Central Senatorial District candidate, Abdulkarim Abdulsalam Zaura , popularly known as A. A Zaura, has been rescued by the Department of State Service (DSS) operatives in Jigawa State.

Recall, Hajia Laure Mai Kunu was picked by suspected bandits at her residence in Rangaza ward of Zaura village of Kumbotso local government area of Kano metropolis on Monday, June 6, 2022.

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Kano police public Relations Officer who confirmed the development said that the incident occurred around 1:30 am.

He said, “it is true that we have rescued Laure in Jigawa State, this followed a serious tip off by our men. We traced her in Jigawa and rescued her unhurt”.

The DSS further narrated that while rescuing her, they found another old woman whose ransom of N2 million was already paid out of the requested N10 million and rescued her.

Reports earlier on hinted that the kidnappers of Zaura’s mother had called from Katsina State, claiming to have taken her there.

The Kano State Police Command had said that they have arrested two persons in connection with the kidnappings, whose identities were not immediately ascertained.
