Police Warns Liverpool Fans In Paris Ahead Of Champions League Final

Liverpool fans have been warned about attempted burglary in Paris ahead of the Champions League final, as thousands gather in the city in excitement.

More than 50,000 supporters, mostly without tickets, started gathering in different parts of the city during the day, but police reminded them to be careful.

The Reds will take on 13-time winners Real Madrid at the Stade de France, just north of the city, on Saturday, with supporters beginning to arrive on Thursday morning.

Some of those who traveled to Paris wrote on social media they had been pickpocketed, with one saying he had been threatened with a knife.

Up to 70,000 fans are expected to arrive, according to local authorities, with some driving for 10 hours to reach the match.

People in Liverpool shirts and holding banners and waving flags could be seen across the city.

Merseyside Police’s Liverpool Matchday Policing Twitter account posted: “Have just been made aware of an attempted burglary at the stadium.

“It appears that local youths are snatching people and running away.

“Take care of your belongings. Take care of each other. Stay safe.”

Local police were seen shutting down the Kop Bar, a Liverpool-themed pub in the city, after hundreds of football fans gathered there on Friday afternoon.

A heavy police force including armed officers is present in the area. At one point officers with riot gear were seen monitoring the situation after fans spilled onto the road.
