Pope Francis Publicly Appears On A WheelChair (Photos)

On Thursday, May 5, Pope Francis was seen in public in a wheelchair, just days after announcing that he will undergo a minor knee surgery.

The pope was pushed into the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican city for a meeting with nuns and mother superiors from all over the world, as he has been suffering from pain in his right knee for some time.

The nuns cheered the pope for a lengthy moment while he was pushed into the chamber by his most trusted assistant, today, May 5, according to the newspaper Il Messaggero.

Pope Francis, 85, revealed he was going to have a minor “intervention with infiltration” as a result of a strained ligament in an interview with Corriere Della Sera on Tuesday, May 3.

Last week, at the conclusion of a meeting with bishops from Slovakia, the pope, seated on a chair, apologized for not being able to rise to greet his visitors.

However, the pope has previously used a wheelchair but this is his first public appearance in one.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
