Pope Francis Suffering From Fever, Vatican Reveals

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis has been forced to cancel his schedule due to a fever.

The pope’s schedule was not made public this morning, as is customary on Fridays. According to the Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni, “Due to a feverish state, Pope Francis did not receive an audience this morning.”

The 86-year-old’s health problems have gotten worse over the past year, from chronic knee pain to his most recent hospitalization for bronchitis.

Towards the end of March, Pope Francis underwent bronchitis treatment in a Rome hospital for five days. After taking medication, he recovered rapidly from the illness and was able to travel to Hungary for three days at the end of April.

Pope Francis spent three nights in a Rome hospital at the end of March after experiencing breathing problems. He was given antibiotics as treatment for bronchitis.

The pope smiled and made light-hearted remarks to well-wishers as he left the Gemelli Hospital on April 1 by saying, “I am still alive!”

He then proceeded to attend Holy Week and Easter services, the most important week in the Christian calendar.

The pope has been confined to a wheelchair for over a year owing to persistent knee pain that he claims cannot be addressed surgically.

When asked about his health in an interview with the Spanish-language network Telemundo that aired on Thursday, Pope Francis claimed it was “much better.”

“I can walk now. My knee has been mending. I could hardly walk beforehand, now I can. Some days are more painful than others, like today,” the pope said.

According to Pope Francis, his bronchial infection had been discovered by doctors just in time.

“If we’d waited a few more hours, it would’ve been much more serious. But I was out (of the hospital) in four days,” he said.
