Pregnant Mother Of Nine Children Arrested For Alleged Murder

The Rivers State police command has arrested a pregnant woman named Blessing Godday for fatally stabbing Mrs Imeran Idema.

Blessing, a mother of nine children, allegedly killed Idema for attempting to stop her from departing with a handful of plantains she stole from a plantation. On January 28, she committed the claimed act while attempting to obtain food for her hungry children in Agada village, Abua, Rivers State.

Mrs. Imeran Idema, who was watching after the plantation for her family, reportedly told Blessing to drop the bunch of plantains, but she refused. She escaped to another exit but was pursued by Idema, who threatened to use the cutlass she was holding on Godday if she moved another step.

Following an argument, Idema used the machete to stab Godday in the leg, preventing her from escaping any farther.

Godday then dropped the bundle of plantains and descended on Mrs Idema, allegedly injuring her numerous times with her own machete before leaving the plantains and the bleeding owner within the plantation.

Idema’s scream attracted the attention of other members of her family, who rushed her to the hospital for treatment. However, before she died, she was able to tell her relatives who injured her and what caused it.

A report was filed at the police station, and Godday was thereafter arrested. When the police saw the eight-month-pregnant woman’s leg injuries, they sent her home to treat herself before arresting her again two days later.

Confirming the occurrence, CP Olatunji Disu, Commissioner of Police for the Rivers State Command, urged individuals to think carefully before making life decisions. He challenged household heads to procreate responsibly and live within their means.
