Premier League Player Arrested Over Rape Allegations

According to reports, a Premier League football player has been detained in North London over rape allegations.

The Premier League football player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was detained and is now being questioned by authorities, according to a statement from the UK Police.

The footballer was brought into custody early on Monday morning, according to the report.

It was learned that the player’s identity has not yet been made public due to legal concerns over an alleged sex crime that he reportedly committed at the end of June.

This comes after two other Premier League players, Mason Greenwood and Yves Bissouma, who were both arrested last year, were accused of engaging in similar behaviour. The Man United player remains on bail following his alleged rape offence. Bissouma, however, has now been found not guilty of the offence.

The unnamed football player was accused of raping a woman in her 20s, according to a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police on July 4 that disclosed the arrest.

The statement released by the police partly reads, “It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022. On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where he remains.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
