President Buhari Confirms Another Northerner As FRSC’s Corps Marshal

Dauda Biu has been appointed as the substantive Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, and President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed the appointment (FRSC).

Mr. Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer, confirmed the presidential permission in a statement yesterday in Abuja.

From July 2022 to the present, Biu has served as the corps’ acting corps marshal. The previous Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, retired in July, making the new Corps Marshal the second professional employee to be appointed in that position.

Although Biu is from the Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, she was born in Zaria, Kaduna State. Through perseverance, commitment, and hard work, he advanced to the rank of Deputy Corps Marshal after joining the FRSC in 1988.

The new Corps Marshal has held a number of posts within the army, including Acting Corps Marshal and Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of Finance and Accounts, among others.

Biu graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in Kaduna State, with a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

Additionally, Biu has urged the nation’s drivers to maintain a culture of collective alertness against the threat of traffic accidents. This was stated by Biu in his 2023 New Year’s address, in which he praised the road safety stakeholders for continuing the campaigns in the previous year and made a plea for continued support in the coming year.

According to a statement released by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Mr. Bisi Kazeem, yesterday in Abuja, the Corps Marshal thanked all FRSC employees and other important stakeholders for the dedication they showed during the end-of-year special patrol.

He cautioned them to be watchful going forward. In order to restore order on the nation’s roads and the confidence of road users in the use of road transportation, Biu called for additional efforts to build on the successes of the campaigns that were recorded last year.

The head of FRSC emphasized the significance of the ongoing UN General Assembly global campaign for a safer driving environment (UNGA).

He said that this was being done under the auspices of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety: 2021-2030 and the part that both private citizens and corporate entities might play in making it a reality.

In order for Nigeria to stand out in the evaluation of the success of the international efforts against road carnage, Biu urged every Nigerian to adopt the principles of the road safety campaign.

He claimed that Nigeria was one of the UN members that had been instrumental in starting the global campaign for road safety in 2010 and had continued to be so over the years.
