President Tinubu Directs Ministers, Heads Of Agencies To Reduce Vehicles In Convoys

Federal Government heads of agencies, ministers, and ministers of state are only allowed to have three cars in their official convoys, per President Bola Tinubu’s directive.

This was revealed by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga in a statement issued today, October 24.

According to Onanuga, they will not be given any more automobiles to use for transportation.

The President’s signed statement announcing the cost-cutting measure was released today.

President Tinubu reduced the number of staff in his entourage on international visits from fifty to twenty in January of this year, marking a big stride in cutting government spending. He lowered it to 25 officials for local travel.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu has also trimmed the vice president’s entourage to 15 personnel for domestic travel and just five for international travel.

President Tinubu also directed that all ministers, heads of state, and agency heads have a maximum of five security officers assigned to them in the directive that was released today.

Four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer will make up the security squad.

“No additional security personnel will be assigned,” he ordered.

President Tinubu has also directed the National Security Adviser to consult with the Military, Paramilitary, and Security Agencies to determine a suitable reduction in their vehicle and security personnel deployment.

To emphasise the urgency and gravity of these changes, Onanuga added that all impacted officials are expected to adhere to these new measures immediately.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
