Bola Tinubu, the president, has publicly endorsed Nigeria’s candidacy for reelection to the FIFA Council.
In between FIFA Congresses, the FIFA Council serves as the organization’s main decision-making body.
37 people were chosen for the council’s four-year renewable term by the FIFA Congress.
Following the late Oyo Orok Oyo and Dr. Amos Adamu, Amaju Pinnick, the two-term President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), was elected to the council in March 2021.
Pinnick is running for council reelection, and President Tinubu is in favor of Nigeria keeping its position on the council.
