Putin Offers To Mediate Iran-Israel Conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin is presenting himself as a possible intermediary in the intensifying Iran-Israel conflict, cautioning about severe repercussions if tensions persist in escalating.

During a telephone discussion on Wednesday with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Putin voiced “deep concern” regarding the increasing hostilities and reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to assist in facilitating peace.

Per a Kremlin statement, Putin “confirmed Russia’s readiness to provide mediation assistance to promote dialogue between the parties to the conflict.”

Both leaders warned that the continuing violence between Iran and Israel could result in “extremely negative consequences for the entire region,” and stressed the urgency of immediate de-escalation.

The conflict escalated following Israel’s initiation of a large-scale bombing campaign on Friday, which triggered a rapid response from Iran through missile and drone attacks. This back-and-forth has already led to hundreds of casualties and widespread regional unease.

While Russia has strengthened its military collaboration with Iran—particularly in the context of its ongoing conflict in Ukraine—Moscow has also preserved diplomatic and economic relations with Israel. Putin is one of the few global leaders able to engage with both parties.

Recently, the Russian president has reportedly conducted separate phone conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, proposing Russia’s role as a neutral facilitator in peace talks.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
