“Putin Plans To Split Ukraine In Two, Like North And South Korea,” Ukraine’s military intelligence Says

According to Ukraine’s military intelligence, Russian President, Vladimir Putin intends to split Ukraine in two, similar to how North and South Korea are divided.

The head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency, Brig. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, said Russia’s operations around Kyiv to overthrow the government had failed and that it was now impossible for the Russian army to unseat the Ukrainian government of Volodimir Zelenskyy, adding that the war has now become centered on the country’s south and east.

“Putin Plans To Split Ukraine In Two, Like North And South Korea,” Ukraine's military intelligence Says

He said, “There is reason to believe that he is considering a ‘Korean’ acenario for Ukraine. That is, [Russian forces] will try to impose a dividing line between the unoccupied and occupied regions of our country. In fact, it is an attempt to create North and South Korea in Ukraine.”

According to Budanov, Russia wants to build a land passageway from the Russian border to Crimea, and he expects an attempt to merge Russian-occupied territory (Luhansk, Donetsk, and Crimea) into a unified entity.

He said, “We are already seeing attempts to create “parallel” authorities in the occupied territories and to force people to give up [the Ukrainian] currency.”

Budanov, however, believes the Ukrainian people will resist Putin’s efforts in these regions.
