Ralf Rangnick Exits Manchester United

Former Manchester United interim coach, Ralf Rangnick has announced that he will be leaving the club and that he would not be taking up the job of consultant that was expected of him.

Rangnick joined Old Trafford as an interim manager last year, and he was expected to take over the boardroom this summer. Rangnick, on the other hand, will not be returning to United after accepting the position as coach of the Austrian national team.

In a statement, United said: “We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months. By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not, therefore, be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.

“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”

When speaking to the media earlier this week, new United manager Erik ten Hag was asked about Rangnick’s new consulting job with the club. The thought of working with the German got a cold response from the Dutchman: “That’s on the club.”

Rangnick had a difficult time leading the Red Devils, with a victory percentage of 37.9%.

Ten Hag is said to have met with Rangnick and expressed his desire to focus on rebuilding the United team with as little influence as possible.

Rangnick’s dedication to United was also called into doubt after he unexpectedly accepted a national team job earlier this season.

Rangnick and United’s management are said to have agreed on a compensation package.
