Rape: Man Defiles Sister And Asks Her To Frame Another Man

Men from the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended two men suspected of rape in the state.

In a statement issued by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, it is stated that on February 23, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Adepoju Ifedayo Moses “m,” 42 years old, reported at the Ifako Gbagada Divisional Headquarters, Lagos, that he had sent his younger sister, whose name is withheld and who is 13 years old and an orphan, on an errand at around 9 p.m. on the same day, but that man, 38 years old, had followed her into his room and defiled her.

According to Adejobi, a group of detectives from the division arrived on the spot, rescued the victim, and took the culprit into custody. He continued by saying that after a careful investigation, it was discovered that the victim’s uncle, Adepoju Ifedayo, was the same complainant who had actually defiled the victim earlier in the day and had given the victim instructions to lie against the original suspect. Two pistols manufactured locally and three spent cartridges were found during a search of the complainant’s home.

In a related development, on March 12th at approximately 10:30 PM, one Nene Badmus, f, reported to the Surulere Divisional Headquarters in Lagos State that on the same day, around 7 p.m., she discovered her 16-year-old daughter, name withheld, lying down by the roadside crying and complaining of abdominal pain while bleeding.

Adejobi added that she questioned her, and the daughter admitted that Augustine Udeh’s’, 33, violated her by engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with her. He stated that a team of detectives from the division took the victim to a medical facility for examination and subsequently caught the suspect.

The force reportedly stated that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM, has always expressed his dissatisfaction and zero tolerance for such barbaric crimes, and has ordered that culprits be held accountable, punished appropriately, and justice delivered.

‘’We must educate the populace about consent, respect, and healthy relationships. By promoting a culture of respect, dignity, and equality, we can prevent instances of rape and defilement from occurring.

“Ending rape and defilement requires a concerted effort from all sectors of society. It requires us to speak out against injustice, support and protect survivors, and work towards a future where every individual is free from the threat of sexual harassment and violence.

“Together, we can create a world where rape and defilement are curbed, and our women and child girls and boys can live their lives free from fear, intimidation, and harassment,” he said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
