Reactions As Davido Calls Burna Boy ‘New Cat’ In Music Industry

Afrobeat sensation; David Adeleke, alias Davido, expressed his opinions on the emergence of fresh artists in the Nigerian music sector.

In a recent interview, Davido acknowledged the development and popularity of Afrobeats around the world but emphasized that he and Ayo “Wizkid” Balogun were among the musicians who found early success.

Discussing further, he mentioned Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Asake, and Mayorkun as part of the “new cats” in the industry, emphasizing their talent and impact. Davido addressing Burna Boy as a ‘new cat’ in music has stirred reactions.

Davido also took the opportunity to appreciate the contributions of Mayorkun and Asake, whom he featured in his latest album, ‘Timeless.’

“Everybody knows that I was one of the first, me and Wizkid to blow up. It feels good also seeing that the news cats coming up; like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Rema, Asake, and Mayorkun,” he said.

The phrase “new cats” used by Davido to describe them has sparked debates among fans and music lovers.

While some people appreciate Davido’s acknowledgment of his coworkers, others have perceived the term as insulting.

However, internet users came upon a 2018 Snapchat post from Burna Boy in which he made the implication that Davido is only alive because his father has the money to pay for a job in the entertainment industry even though he cannot sing.
