Regha Questions Zlatan Ibile Over Rumored ₦5 Million Monthly French Tutor Cost

Daniel Regha, a social commentator from Nigeria, responded to rapper Zlatan Ibile’s announcement that he would pay up to ₦5 million a month for a private French tutor.

Zlatan had previously expressed interest in hiring a French teacher to work from home, setting a high salary range that immediately attracted public attention and elicited conflicting responses on social media.

Daniel Regha responded to the news by questioning the offer’s viability and voicing concerns about other domestic workers’ compensation arrangements. As he said:

“I need a French teacher for home lessons. The salary should not exceed 5 million per month, How much does he pay his security personnel and house staff that he wants to pay a teacher over N5m? No-one should take that job, if the salary is unrealistic, the job questionable,”.

His comments quickly spread online, with many users weighing in on whether the proposed salary was appropriate or exaggerated, especially in comparison to typical earnings for similar roles in Nigeria.

It’s hard to believe that Zlatan Ibile would genuinely spend such a hefty sum—₦5 million every month—just on a French tutor. Considering his other expenses, like paying his domestic staff and maintaining his lifestyle, such an amount seems excessive for language lessons alone. It’s more likely that he was joking or exaggerating rather than seriously planning to spend that much.

After all, no one would realistically pour that kind of money into learning French when there are more practical ways to do so.
