Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State of the United States and the Democratic candidacy for president in 2016, asserted that Elon Musk has a significant impact on the Republican Party following the Capitol Hill spending scandal.
Clinton’s remarks coincide with House Democrats accusing “Extreme MAGA” Republicans of influencing Elon Musk, a fervent supporter of Donald Trump, to push the nation toward a government shutdown.
“If you’re just catching up: the Republican Party, taking orders from the world’s richest man, is on course to shut down the government over the holidays.
“Stopping paychecks for our troops and nutrition benefits for low-income families just in time for Christmas,” Clinton wrote in a post on X.
If no agreement is reached to extend the government funding deadline to March and maintain spending at 2024 levels, the United States government will go into partial closure at midnight Saturday.
According to the story, Musk had expressed strong objection to the previous spending arrangement reached by House Speaker Mike Johnson with Democrats.
However, Musk, the world’s richest man, promised to sponsor a primary challenge to any Republican who voted for the plan, prompting many Republicans to oppose its ratification.
House Republicans, meanwhile, released a revised version Thursday that was far shorter and included disaster assistance as well as a two-year debt ceiling suspension, as requested by President-elect Donald Trump.
However, the bill failed in the House as Democrats united against it and some Republicans refused to support it, with many seemingly dissatisfied with Musk’s seeming influence.
