Rescuers Pull Out More Survivors From Turkey Earthquake Debris After 10days

Overnight, rescuers dragged three people alive from the rubble more than ten days after the huge earthquake struck: a toddler, a lady, and two adults.

The most recent rescues took place as workers started removing debris from earthquake-devastated communities.

Neslihan Kilic, a 29-year-old mother of two who had been trapped in the wreckage of a building in Kahramanmaras for 258 hours, was freed after a forklift driver raised her bed and spotted her hand twitch, according to a late-Thursday report from the private DHA news agency.

Cuma Yalcinoz, her father, had been waiting outside the structure. I thought she’d come out. I had a feeling. Ms Kilic’s husband and children were still missing,” he said.

Police rescue workers in Antakya, Turkey, recovered 17 bodies from a collapsed building before discovering 12-year-old Osman alive.

Police rescue team leader Okan Tosun told DHA, “Just when our hopes were over, we reached our brother Osman at the 260th hour.”

Crews located two men inside the rubble of an Antakya hospital that had collapsed an hour later. One of them, Mustafa Avci, called his brother and inquired about family members using a rescuer’s cellphone.

“Have they all survived?” he asked. “Let me hear their voices.”

The number of casualties from the strong earthquake in Turkey has been revised to 38,044, bringing the total number of deaths in Turkey and Syria to 41,732.

If search crews uncover more victims amidst the destruction, the death toll is set to rise even higher. Turkey’s modern-day deadliest calamity is the devastating 7.8 earthquake.

A big thank you to all the rescuers for their hard work and relentless effort.
