RFK Jr. Issues An Apology For JFK-Inspired Super Bowl Ad

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK), has expressed regret to his own family for a Super Bowl commercial that was modeled after his late uncle; former US President John F. Kennedy.

The advertisement is nearly a perfect duplicate of one that his uncle JFK ran in 1960. The 70-year-old claimed that he had no “involvement or approval” in its creation.

It features a picture of RFK over his uncle and repeats the name Kennedy fifteen times in thirty seconds. The actual advertisement ran on Sunday right before halftime of the Super Bowl.

Mr. Kennedy apologized on social media late on Sunday night if the Super Bowl commercial upset anyone in his family. He asserted that American Values 2024, a political action committee (Pac) that supported Kennedy, funded and produced the advertisement.

A political action committee (PAC) is a tax-exempt organization that receives money from its members and distributes it to campaigns supporting or opposing candidates in the United States.

Critics contend that the $7 million advertisement, which remains at the top of Mr. Kennedy’s social media pages, renders the apology unnecessary.

Mr Kennedy was formerly running for US president as a Democrat, like his famous uncle and father Robert F Kennedy, but has since confirmed he will run as an independent.

Various members of the Kennedy family have distanced themselves from his campaign. Earlier in his career, Mr Kennedy was widely respected as an environmental lawyer. However, his anti-vaccine campaigning has alienated him from family members and the Democratic Party.

A third-party candidate has never really broken through in a US presidential election. However, they are often disruptors.

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found Mr Kennedy could draw as many as one in seven US voters, with widespread unhappiness at the inevitable prospect of a Joe Biden v Donald Trump rematch.

It could spell bad news for the incumbent, as research found Mr Kennedy is likely to take more votes from Mr Biden than Mr Trump.

Before announcing his decision to run as an independent, Mr. Kennedy was a Democratic candidate for US president, much like his well-known uncle and father, Robert F. Kennedy.

The Kennedy family has distanced itself from his campaign in many ways. Mr. Kennedy was a well-respected environmental lawyer in the early years of his career. But he’s lost the support of the Democratic Party and family members as a result of his anti-vaccine advocacy.

There has never been a US presidential election where a third-party candidate truly made an impact. But they frequently cause disruptions.

Up to one in seven US voters, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, believe Mr. Kennedy may win. Many people are unhappy about the likely prospect of a Joe Biden vs. Donald Trump rematch.

According to analysis, Mr. Kennedy is probably going to receive more votes from Mr. Biden than from Mr. Trump, which could be terrible news for the incumbent.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
