Rivers Police Arrest 13 Officers For Indecent Dressing

According to the Rivers State Police Command, 13 of its personnel have been arrested for indecent dressing.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, said this during a live broadcast on a radio station in Port Harcourt on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

According to Disu, the police personnel were detained after being arrested during a patrol by the command monitoring unit in various locations of Port Harcourt.

“During a routine patrol in different parts of the city, we arrested about 13 officers who were indecently dressed. This is part of an ongoing effort to stop indecent dressing by officers of the command. And the head of the divisions where these arrested officers are serving will be vicariously liable for the personnel’s conduct,” the CP stated.

Disu also promised that the killers of the previous Divisional Police Officer of the state’s Ahoada East Local Government Area, SP Bako Ang Bashin, will be captured and brought to justice.

The police chief expressed his shock at the public outpouring of sympathy over the DPO’s death.

He revealed that he is in talks with Ahoada stakeholders and receiving guidance from them in order to apprehend the main suspect, Gift Okpara.

“As police, we cannot succeed without cooperation and partnership from members of the public. I have started fostering a partnership between the police and members of the public,” he said.

“I had a meeting twice with the traffic section of the police to remind them that they must be civil in their dealings with members of the public.

“I want to work with members of the public so they can trust us and give us information.”
