Ronaldo Sister, Elma Aveiro Blasts Portugal’s Coach For Benching The 37-Year-Old Against Switzerland

Elma Aveiro, the sister of former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, has taken to social media to criticize Portugal’s national team coach Fernando Santos, for his decision to bench her brother during Portugal’s 6-1 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday, December 6th.

Elma Aveiro alleged that the Portuguese coach made fun of her brother and added that she is baffled as to why Santos left the 37-year-old out of his starting lineup.

With Joao Felix and Bruno Fernandes on the wings, Goncalo Ramos led from the attacking 3 for Portugal and scored a hat-trick as they demolish Switzerland to proceed to the quarter-finals

Aveiro vented on Instagram about the exclusion of her brother, who started from the sideline for the first time in the knockout game at a significant international competition, since Euro 2008.

She wrote in a post, “Today we are all together, if you think it has to be like this I am here to see it,’ she began, posting an image of the Portugal team prior to kick-off.

“Yes Ronaldo is not eternal, yes Ronaldo won’t play forever, unfortunately, he doesn’t score goals now, he’s old, Portugal doesn’t need Ronaldo.

“We talked about what we heard, all that he did isn’t important, all that he did was forgotten.

“Now they ask for forgiveness and they don’t need him. I will register that and later we’ll talk.

“Rui Santos, what will he apologise for? Now we can f*** who we want.

“It is a shame to humiliate a man who has given so much, but later I will see a lot more.”

Remember the circumstances that led to Cristiano Ronaldo’s sack from Manchester United last month after sitting with British Journalist Piers Morgan, for a controversial interview.

During the interview, Ronaldo accused the owners of Manchester United of having no care for the club, adding that the club’s manager, Erik ten Hag, who benched him in several games, had no respect for him, therefore, he also has no respect for the manager.

The 37-year-old, however, praised the fans, stating that they always have his back and have always been of great support.
