Saint Teresa Of Ávila, Virgin, Doctor

Saint Teresa Of Ávila, Virgin, Doctor

Abraham was a man of faith and prayer. He is said to be the father of many generations because He believed and trusted in his relationship with God. Whether his path was rough with troubles or smooth with mercies all he needed to do was just to follow and he bore everything with patience and prevailed at the end because he believed and trusted in God.

Our faith has Christians, will go through trials but as we all know, patience is a handmade and daughter of faith and hope. “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? “ Romans 8:24-25.

Through Christ, we who have fallen apart are privileged to be accepted by God. But some Christians seem to be accepted in their own experience, at least, that is their apprehension, that when their spirit is lively, and their hope is bright, they think God accepts them, for they feel so heavenly-minded, so drawn above the earth! But when their souls cleave to the dust, they are the victims of the fear that they are no longer being accepted.

Then the yeast of the Pharisees, hypocrisy horrifying starts to creep in. But if they could but see that all their high joys do not exalt them, and all their low despondencies do not really depress them in their Father’s sight, but that they stand accepted in One who never alters, in One who is always the loving God, always perfect, always without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, how much happier they would be, and how much more they would honour the Saviour!

Saint Theresa of Avila, had moments of tripedity and aridity. At a certain time, she was lukewarm and after reforming herself through the help of Christ and trying to reform her congregation, she also experienced spiritual aridity. Amidst such trials, Theresa said that this two states of soul should makes us search and love the God of all consolations and not to love the consolations of God.

This Daughter of Jesus is also a Doctor of the Church and she teaches us all how to be prayerful and hopeful. In our own live as Christians, we too must persevere and be fervent fulfilling our works and prayers even when we don’t feel like it. We must continue to persevere in prayer and to hope in God just as Abraham our father in faith, Mary and Joseph our models of faith and Teresa of Jesus had done.

Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times. Romans 12:12.
