Samsung Accelerates HBM4 Production For Nvidia, Boosting Energy-Efficient AI Memory Supply

Samsung begins producing next-generation HBM4 chips for Nvidia, enhancing high-performance AI memory bandwidth and energy efficiency.

Samsung Electronics is set to begin producing its next-generation HBM4 high-bandwidth memory chips for Nvidia in February, ahead of competitors, according to South Korean media citing industry sources.

The Korea Economic Daily reports that Samsung has passed qualification tests for its sixth-generation HBM4 with both Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices. Shipments are expected to start next month, marking an early push into advanced, energy-efficient AI memory.

Samsung has long sought to catch up with market leader SK Hynix in high-performance memory. Launching HBM4 production now strengthens its position in the rapidly growing AI accelerator market.

HBM4 chips are essential for next-generation artificial intelligence hardware, delivering higher data bandwidth and improved energy efficiency. Shares of Samsung in Seoul traded flat after rising earlier in the day, reaching near-record levels.
