Senator Chimaroke, John Fayose, and Others, Expelled From PDP

Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, John Fayose, the son of former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, Lere Olayinka, the spokesperson for former Governor Ayo Fayose, and a few other individuals have been expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party claimed that their expulsion was the result of anti-party behaviour.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party approved the expulsion at its 566th meeting.

The party said in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba: “The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party at its 566th meeting today, Friday, February 10, 2023, approved the expulsion of the following individuals from the Party for anti-Party activities and other grave offences in violation of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

“The expulsion takes effect from today, Friday, February 10, 2023. The decision of the NWC is a sequel to the recommendation of the National Disciplinary Committee and pursuant to Sections 58 and 59 (1)(g) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017.

“The PDP charges all members of our Party across the country to remain united and focused on the mission of our Party to Rescue, Rebuild, and Redirect our nation from misrule.”

Nnamani and others who were expelled began to experience problems when they adopted opposing viewpoints on party issues.

Nnamani has been openly supporting Tinubu, while Fayose’s son and Olayinka, his former spokesman, declined to attend the rally of Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate in Ado-Ekiti.

Nnamani responded to the expulsion by telling the party leadership that they lack the authority to remove him.

Nnamani claimed that the Dr Iyorchia Ayu-led NWC lacked the authority to suspend or remove him from the National Assembly because it failed to follow due process and strictly adhere to the PDP Constitution’s provisions.

According to Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, who made this claim in a letter to the PDP NWC through his attorney Olusegun O. Jolaawo SAN, only the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party has such authority.
