Sheikh Jassim Submits Fifth Bid To Buy Manchester United

According to reports, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani of Qatar has made his fifth and final offer to purchase Manchester United.

In November, the club made a statement stating that the board was looking into strategic alternatives to boost the club’s growth, with a full sale being one of those options.

Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe both officially reaffirmed their initial offers for the purchase of United in February, and the latter is believed to have made a fifth offer this week.

Those engaged in Sheikh Jassim’s proposal have stated that this will be the last bid, and the offer for 100% of the club is still on the table.

The bid team for Sheikh Jassim won’t participate in the process after this Friday, although this new offer comes after what was referred to be a “final offer” in late April.

Then in May, the Raine Group, the New York-based investment firm supervising the sale of the club, received a fourth offer, which was reportedly close to £5 billion but fell short of the Glazer family’s £6 billion estimate.

On April 28, the third and final round of bidding came to an end. However, Sheikh Jassim has since moved once again in response to news from last month that a revised offer from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS had put them in the lead to purchase United.

Sheikh Jassim thinks his offer, which would be highly competitive, would be extremely advantageous for Manchester United since it would eliminate roughly £1 billion in debt for the team and create a separate fund for the redevelopment of Old Trafford, the surrounding area, and the team’s Carrington training facility.

The main rival for Sheikh Jassim’s purchase of the Premier League Football Club is Jim Ratcliffe, the CEO of Ineos. Ratcliffe has proposed buying the bulk of the team’s stock.
