Simon Ekpa Threatened Me For Not Supporting Biafra – Orji Uzor Kalu

Orji Uzor Kalu, a member representing Abia North Senatorial District, claims that Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), threatened him for not supporting Biafra.

Kalu claimed this during an interview with Arise Television on Monday, December 2, adding he ignored Ekpa’s warnings for not backing the Biafra struggle.

“Simon Ekpa was calling and threatening me that I don’t support Biafra, but I left him to his conscience.

“I am very strong-willed when it comes to security, and I can do anything to safeguard the lives and property of the people I rule.

“You must be a strong leader to condemn crime, and I eradicated crime. No governor should tolerate any type of crime in his state; it is not allowed,” he said.

Kalu, on the other hand, asked the governors of the south-east to be firm in dealing with non-state players.

On November 21, police in Finland detained Simon Ekpa, a well-known pro-Biafra activist.

The district court in Päijät-Häme later sentenced him to prison for propagating terrorist propaganda on social media platforms.

A Finnish district court has set a May 2025 deadline for the prosecution to submit accusations against him.
