Federal officials have revealed that singer R Kelly was transferred last week from a Chicago detention facility to a medium-security prison in North Carolina.

US prosecutors ask for 25 more years in prison for R. Kelly

According to Benjamin O’Cone, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Robert Sylvester Kelly was sent from the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Chicago to the federal prison in Butner, North Carolina, on April 19.

Due to privacy, security, and safety concerns, the agency does not publicly state the reasons for inmate transfers, he claimed.

The 56-year-old Grammy Award-winning R&B singer was given a 20-year prison term in February for explicit images and enticing minors to have s*x.

With the exception of one, he will serve all of those sentences concurrently with a 30-year sentence he received in New York for racketeering and s*x trafficking.

Kelly, who adamantly refutes the accusations, came from humble beginnings in Chicago and has since become one of the biggest R&B performers in the world.

He was well-known for his number-one hit, “I Believe I Can Fly,” and for s*x-themed songs like “Bump N’ Grind,” and he continued to sell millions of CDs even after claims that he had abused girls came to light in the 1990s.
