South African Shoots Wife And Sister-In-law D3ad

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has initiated an inquiry following an incident where a man named Pitsi Malepe allegedly fired shots that killed his wife and sister-in-law, injured another individual, and subsequently used the weapon on himself in Mabins B village, Limpopo.

According to the police, the 45-year-old suspect allegedly showed up at his wife’s home around noon on Saturday, October 18, 2025, left his car parked outside, and began shooting at the victims.

The deceased have been identified as a 44-year-old woman and her 36-year-old sister, while a 34-year-old sister-in-law suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said officers were conducting a patrol when they got a report of a shooting incident and responded without delay.

“On arrival, police found two lifeless bodies of women with multiple gunshot wounds,” Ledwaba said.

“The brother of the victims pointed out the bodies and informed police that the suspect had suddenly opened fire on them.”

After the attack, the suspect reportedly escaped from the scene and was later discovered dead at his residence, having apparently shot himself with his firearm.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and police investigations are ongoing.

Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the killings, describing the incident as a disturbing example of domestic violence.

“Domestic-related problems should be discussed and resolved amicably rather than through violence,” said Hadebe. “Innocent lives are being lost unnecessarily due to such senseless acts.”

Police have opened two counts of murder and one of attempted murder.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
