Speed Darlington Granted Bail After 1 Month In Detention

After being detained by the authorities for over a month, rapper Speed Darlington whose real name is Darlington Achakpo—was released on bail.

The court has granted Speed Darlington bail, according to an Instagram post from his attorney Stanley Alieke. Without providing much details, he said,

“The court has granted Apki bail.”

On November 27, while playing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, the rapper was detained for allegedly abusing Burna Boy, an Afrofusion artist.

Despite the difficulties, Speed Darlington’s attorney, Deji Adeyanju, had previously said that the singer will either be released on bail or arraigned within 48 hours.

Our FREP application for Speed Darlington a.k.a has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hours or released. Issues around injustice may take time but justice will always prevail,” he wrote.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
