Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie suspended over alleged match fixing

Singida Black Stars FC have suspended two senior players, including Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, following disciplinary proceedings by the club’s Disciplinary Committee.

In an official statement, the Tanzanian Premier League side confirmed that Obasogie has been handed a three-month suspension pending an investigation into serious allegations of match-fixing.

The 26-year-old, who previously featured for Bendel Insurance FC before his move to Tanzania, is currently under review as the club conducts what it described as a thorough and fair probe.

Singida Black Stars explained that the temporary suspension is intended to “facilitate due process” and safeguard the integrity of the club while investigations continue.

The club also sanctioned captain Khalid Aucho over misconduct and absenteeism. The 32-year-old Uganda international, who joined the club in August 2025 on a three-year deal, has been barred from all club-related activities for the same three-month period.

In its communication, Singida Black Stars reiterated the importance of discipline, accountability, and respect for the club’s values, stressing that all players and staff are expected to uphold professional standards.

Do suspensions like these protect a club’s reputation, or risk damaging players unfairly?
