“Super Eagles Has The Players It Need For The World Cup Qualifiers” – Austine Eguavoen

Austine Eguavoen, the Super Eagles’ manager and technical adviser, and Emmanuel Emenike, the team’s chief coach, have guaranteed Nigerians that the players at their disposal are capable of defeating Ghana’s Black Stars in the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff.

The first and second legs will take place between March 23 and March 29, with the aggregate winners clinching a spot in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Nigeria is attempting to qualify for the World Cup for the seventh time since 1994 and has only missed out on one occasion in 2006.

Ghana’s last appearance in the World Cup came in 2014.

Eguavoen said he felt privileged to lead the squad and asked for the support of the Federal Government and the NFF.

Austine Eguavoen said, “I feel privileged to lead the group. We have two tough games against Ghana next month but I am not too worried because we have a squad that knows it is a mountain that we have to climb.

“We have a good headache to deal with – which is a surplus of good players. I want to thank the government and the NFF for all the support during the AFCON; we will need even greater support for the World Cup play-off.”

Emmanuel Amuneke, also speaking, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with the team.

He said, “I have worked with some of the players in the U-17 and U-20 teams, and some others I have known for many years. We have the team to earn the World Cup ticket and we will put our best foot forward for each game.”
